It It is fundamentally unamerican to vote on the basis of your identity. It is one of the biggest problems in this country that we're not allowed to call out. If I was to go and only vote for candidates that are white, like let's say a candidate comes up who'd be objectively beneficial to America, he's from the Republican party, whatever, but I say publicly, I refuse to vote for him because he's not me, because he's not white, because he's not a wasp, whatever. or I refuse to vote for him because he's not in favor of programs that would benefit white people. That would be seen as abhorrent behavior. And where I depart from a lot of my contemporaries is I do think that's abhorrent behavior. The founding fathers didn't want that. And granted, the founding fathers, I don't appeal to them often because we live in unprecedented times. But I think it's fair to say that the goal of American democracy, of the constitutional republic, is not to be turned into an ethnic knife fight. It's abhorentt. It is an abhorrent behavior to vote on your identity. Identity politics is a problem.
