The Rebbe came out of the synagogue to personally greet Menachem Begin when he arrived. A rare public honor, something that he would never do for normal politicians. Now, Begin had told reporters that he had come to ask and receive his blessing before meeting Carter, calling the Rebbe a great man in Israel whose status is unique. The Rebbe publicly blessed Menachem Begin and wished him complete success for the Jewish people and Israel expressing directly that he hoped that Menachem Begin would help bring about the complete redemption.
