The Rebbe Schneerson will begin a lifelong campaign for the state of Israel and make his position on it known very very clearly. In a private meeting on August 12th, 1967, the Rebbe said, quote, "This was a war won by Torah and Mitzvot. There can be no doubt about this. A Jew in Moscow recited psalms. A Jew in Buffalo, New York, put on to fillain and this helped the Jews defeat their enemies in the land of Israel. Basically, he described the war as one of the greatest opportunities of the generation for the beginning of the redemption. The redemption being the arrival of the Messiah, the coming of God into the world.
