Now it's 1949 and Chabad opens its first official house in the newly founded state of Israel. Now Chabad like other Hasidic dynasties was initially pretty apathetic to the state of Israel. They were pretty comfortable in Brooklyn, New York. And they kind of unenthusiastically supported the establishment of the state of Israel. They didn't encourage their people to move there.
